CCTAX and GCCI urge CBDT to extend deadlines due to e-filing disruptions, format changes, mismatches, and late utilities.
The Chandigarh Chartered Accountants Taxation Association (CCTAX) and the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) have formally requested the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to extend the ITR filing and tax audit deadlines for AY 2025–26. Despite a partial extension for non-audit cases (now due September 15, 2025), the audit deadline remains September 30. CCTAX cites persistent technical issuesportal crashes, session timeouts, upload failures, and inconsistencies between the Annual Information Statement (AIS) and Form 26AS along with monsoon-related disruptions and delays in utility releases. GCCI adds that the late rollout of updated ITR and audit form utilities and the revised ICAI format for non corporate financial statements has strained compliance timelines. Both bodies argue that an extension would aid both taxpayers and the government in ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
